For Hospital, Wunderbaum is collaborating with Los Angeles Poverty Department. LAPD was founded in 1985 by John Malpede in Skid Row, LA. LAPD was  the first performance group in the US made up principally of homeless people, and the first arts program of any kind for homeless people in Los Angeles.

Skid Row Los Angeles is the poorest area in the city, with the largest concentration of homeless people of any neighborhood in the US. In 2010, a film was made about Skid Row, Lost Angels: Skid Row Is My Home. One of the characters is LAPD’s Linda, now working at Hospital. Watch her and other stories below.
